When Respect Breaks, Performance Collapses

There’s a pattern I see often.
Someone only calls when they need something.
They disappear when you set a boundary.
They praise you in private but hesitate in public.
They negotiate your value but expect immediate access.
That isn’t partnership. It’s extraction.
You can feel it. The subtle imbalance.
The unspoken expectation that you will overdeliver because you always have. High performers tolerate this longer than they should.
Because they’re capable.
Because they’re resilient.
Because they don’t want friction.
But being capable does not mean being available, and leadership requires discernment.
I talk more about this in a recent Instagram reel where I break down the signals most people ignore.
If this dynamic is showing up in your business or partnerships, it is not random.
It is tolerated.
If you want to clean that up at the structural level, we can talk. Book a call.
