When Intimidation Gets Misread

One pattern that’s easy to misread is intimidation.

It rarely shows up in obvious ways. Most people don’t say it directly. Instead, it looks like distance, hesitation, or a shift in how someone engages with you.

It can feel like disinterest. Sometimes even like rejection.

But that’s not always what it is.

When you’re clear in how you think, direct in how you communicate, and consistent in how you move, it creates a certain presence. Not everyone knows how to engage with that comfortably.

So they pull back. They overthink. They keep their distance instead of stepping forward.

If you’re not aware of it, it’s easy to misinterpret that reaction and adjust yourself in ways that actually dilute what makes you effective.

I go deeper into this in a recent Instagram reel where I break down how to recognize the difference.

Not every gap in connection is a negative signal. Sometimes it’s just a reflection of how you show up.

And if you want to build and lead without second-guessing that, book a call with me.
